Cherek´s KraulQuappen®
Unique swim aid that helps to enjoy water with confidence!
The development of Cherek's KraulQuappen® looks back on a long and valuable history.
More than 25 years ago, the concept emerged from a wealth of experience in baby swimming and intensive work with infants and toddlers – both with and without disabilities.
From the very beginning, the central idea was to create a swimming aid specifically tailored to the needs of the youngest children. The goal was not only to provide buoyancy, but above all to support natural movement in the water, to convey a sense of security, and simultaneously to promote motor development.
The inventor and developer of Cherek's KraulQuappen® is the sports educator Reiner Cherek. He contributed his extensive practical experience and his sound knowledge of psychomotor skills to the development, thus creating the foundation for this unique concept. The early approaches were strongly inspired by psychomotor skills, which emphasizes the close connection between movement, perception, and emotional development.
Through his long friendship to Jonny Kiphard, the "father of psychomotor therapy," Reiner Cherek received numerous impulses and valuable insights that have profoundly shaped his work and the further development of the KraulQuappen® swimming aids.
The combination of practical experience in the water and psychomotor approaches ultimately led to the first generation of Cherek's KraulQuappen® swimming aids.
From the very beginning, they were used extensively in baby swimming classes, water familiarization, and swimming lessons. Instructors, therapists, and parents continue to appreciate the successful combination of high buoyancy, freedom of movement, and safety.
Over the years, it has also become clear that Cherek's KraulQuappen® are ideally suited for children and adults with various disabilities. Their unique design provides additional support in the water and specifically assists movement patterns. As a result, they have become firmly established in the fields of therapeutic swimming and aquatherapy.
To this day, Cherek's KraulQuappen® swimming aids are continuously being developed and used in many swimming schools, therapy centers, and courses.
They represent a well-conceived combination of experience, practical application, and psychomotor knowledge – with the goal of enabling children to have a safe, free, and joyful experience in the water.
The guiding principle is always: Every child learns at their own pace. Learning should happen without pressure, stress, or coercion – with time, trust, and plenty of enjoyment of movement in the water.
What started as a vision in one swimming school has grown into a trusted product, loved by families across generations and countries.
